1.st DIKILI INTERNATIONAL GRANITE SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM IS BEING HELD IN DIKILI - IZMIR \ TURKEY, BETWEEN 1-31 JULY-2006. Dikili 1st International Granite Sculpture Symposium started in Dikili - Izmir, on the 1st day of July. Hasan Fuat Sari who is from Finland is the Art Advisor of the Symposium. Mika-Matti Nieminen and Hasan Fuat Sari (Finland), Luca Zupelli (Italy), Irma Ortega Perez (Mexico), Felipe Ferrer Guiata (Spain), Dan Archer (England), Dogan Çakir (Belgium) and Selçuk Yilmaz (Turkey) are the sculptors of the symposium. Granite products have been exported from the Dikili harbor. Dikili Kozak Region granites are known as one of the most famous granite stones of the world. At the end of the symposium the granite sculptures of the artists will be located in the parks and gardens of the city center. Dikili Mayor Osman Özgüven states that the international sculptures will build friendship, peace in the city during their workings. During the first days of the symposium, Finland Dance Theatre ERI´s dance shows "Ritual < Tango" were great and received Dikili citizen´s attendance.

IRMA ORTEGA PEREZ, FROM MEXICO, COMPLETED HER SCULPTURE. HER SCULPTURE IS LOCATED NEXT TO THE SEA SIDE ON DIKILI PUBLIC BEACH.

In Mexico City, about one million of children are living on streets. Their houses are the sewer systems of the cities, in which the cover of the sewer is the their door. Sculpture named, "Open Door" represents the door of the street. The hole of the sewer is the access to a better world where everybody could live in love, peace, friendship and solidarity.

Symposium sculpturing works ended. The granite sculpture of Spanish, Felipe Ferrer Guaita is located on Lovers Road, next to the sea.

"ANTHILL VANTAGE POINT" SCULPTURE IS A CONSTRUCTION THAT MIXES NATURAL AND HUMAN ARCHITECTURES. INSIDE THIS SYMBOLIC WORLD, ANTHS AND HUMANS RESPECT THEMSELVES BECAUSE THE EXISTANCE OF EACH ONE DEPENDING TO THE PRESENCE OF THE OTHER. IN OUR REAL LIFE, WE MUST SEE IN THE NATURE AND ORIGIN TO BE IN LOVE, PEACE, FRIENDSHIP AND SOLIDARITY WITH EVERYBODY.

DAN ARCHER (ENGLAND)

THIS SCULPTURE IS A VIEWING TOWER AND A GATEWAY. THROUGH WINDOWS IN THE TOWER YOU CAN LOOK THROUGH THE OPEN GATE TO THE AREA, A DISTANT PROMENTARY WITH A WINDING ROAD - AND BEYOND, THE ISLAND OF LESBOS AND EUROPE. THE GATE IS OPEN - WELCOMING ALL OF THIS IN - AS YOU WOULD WELCOME A GUEST INTO YOUR HOUSE THROUGH THE GATE.
